2020 Grants

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Co-Chairs created the Blaine & Preciosa Tamaki Foundation to distribute immediate grants to the Yakima Valley and centralize their grants moving forward through rounds of funding focused on giving back to Yakima and the state of Washington.

The Foundation established the first round of funding in July 2020 providing charitable organizations in the Yakima Valley with ~$100,000 of Diversity Relief Aid. Blaine & Preciosa quickly selected 16 nonprofits for their dedication to serving their local community with missions related to diversity, education, youth, health, and income inequality.

In December 2020, the Foundation launched the Winter Relief Aid as the first public round of grant applications open to nonprofits in Central Washington. After receiving ~70 grant applications, Preciosa & Blaine added an Advisory Committee to assist the Foundation team in the final stages of decision-making.

The Foundation awarded $134,000+ to 25 nonprofits in Central Washington prioritizing organizations that addressed basic needs related to food insecurities, shelters, extreme winter and COVID-19 challenges.
