Our Impact
Prior to the Foundation, Blaine and Preciosa Tamaki have been philanthropists as individuals. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Co-Chairs decided to publicly launch the Blaine & Preciosa Tamaki Foundation in July 2020 to distribute $100,000 of immediate assistance to 16 nonprofits in the Yakima Valley as part of their Diversity Relief Aid. Since then, the Foundation completed eight rounds of funding and have given over $1,500,000 to charitable organizations.
As part of the Foundation’s mission, the Foundation strives to exceed an annual payout of at least 15%, award unrestricted grants, and prioritize organizations serving diverse ethnic communities. In 2025, the Foundation’s annual payout was 21%.
As an Asian-American led Foundation based in our hometown of Yakima, we are committed to our vision of promoting inclusion and justice in the Yakima Valley and Washington state.

Filipino American Community of the Yakima Valley (FACYV) || Yakima Valley, WA
June 2020 - Present
Grant: $60,000+During the COVID-19 pandemic, Preciosa started the Senior Meals Program with the FACYV to offer free Filipino lunches for up to 100 seniors per week in the Lower Yakima Valley. For a senior that was unable to pick up their meal at the Wapato Filipino Community Hall, a team of volunteer drivers would deliver the meals to their house. More details here.

Yakima Valley College (YVC) Nursing Program || Yakima, WA
2020 - 2022
Grant: $10,000As part of the first round of funding, Preciosa started a three-year Tamaki Charitable Fund Scholarship focusing on women of color. As a YVC alumnus herself, she wanted to help single moms pursuing their nursing degree.

UW School of Law || Seattle, WA
2020 - 2021
Grant: $250,000Blaine is the current Regent of the University of Washington (UW) and alumnus of the UW and the UW School of Law. With Blaine’s leadership, the Co-Chairs created the Blaine and Preciosa Tamaki Diversity Fund for Graduate Students to encourage a diverse and thriving student body in the law school. The gift, divided into four contribution areas, was distributed over two years:
$150,000 to create five new diversity scholarships each year
$50,000 to support mental health services for students
$40,000 to support the Tribal Court Clinic. The clinic serves those who have been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 crisis, including the formerly incarcerated and tribal governments that rely heavily on casinos that have been forced to close.
$10,000 to support diversity training and pipeline events geared to building a diverse applicant pool. -
UW Blaine & Preciosa Tamaki Foundation Consulting Business and Development Endowed Fund || Yakima Valley, WA
2023 - 2027
Grant: $100,000
This Endowed Fund will provide support to accelerate career and business growth in the Yakima Valley through the University of Washington (UW) Consulting and Business Development Center. The Endowed Fund supports the Yakima Business Certificate Program (BCP), which offers free fundamental and advanced business courses to improve business knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities of employees of the Yakima Valley’s leading businesses. This six-week program is taught by leading faculty from the UW Foster School of Business and provides participants an opportunity to learn proven business fundamentals and apply them to their work. Yakima Greenway || Yakima, WA
2021 - 2023
Grant: $100,000As part of the Yakima Greenway’s renovations for the 16th avenue rest area, the Yakima Greenway will create a shaded picnic area, add safe trails and access to the river, upgrade the parking lot and pathways, and increase security measures at the Tamaki View Point.
